A las 6:50 de la mañana el Jefe de Gobierno Marcelo Ebrard en compañìa del secretario de Turismo Alejandro Rojas dieron el encendido simbólico de las transmisiones desde Sudáfrica. Aunque tardó en llegar la señal y ante la impaciencia de la gente la fiesta estaba presente en el zócalo de la Ciudad de México.
